Series returned with season 5 on September 22, 1999 and the season opener was entitled ‘Y2K, You’re Okay’. In the second episode, ‘Drew Goes to the Browns’ Game’, we see that Sharon can’t spend too much time with Drew because of her busy work schedules so he’s very disappointed. ‘Drew and the Gang Law’- Lewis and Oswald has an idea to start a website for Buzz Beer, buybuzzbeer.com. Next we see that the gang gets ready for their high school reunion. In ‘Drew’s Physical’, Kate tells Lewis that she’s in love with Drew. All Winfred-Louder employees must undergo physical tests. In ‘Drew Tries to Kill Mimi’, we see that Mimi befools Mr. Carey and he vows to kill her. Although, he doesn’t try to do so but circumstances make everyone to believe that he tried to kill her and police arrests him. Later on, Steve saves him. Next episode was entitled ‘Red, White and Drew’. In ‘Drew Live’, we see that the gang decides to hold their bachelor and bachelorette parties simultaneously at Drew’s home.

Drew doesn’t understand Kate’s feelings towards him. During this season, other notable developments are: Winfred-Louder recruits Drew to promote products online; Kate accepts the job of his girlfriend; the couple fails to impress the visitors so Mr. Wick replaces her with a very beautiful Latin woman; Drew and Kate get ready to go on their first date; Drew has a severe pain and the doctor tells him that the cause of his pain is psychological; Drew makes cracks about Mimi and Steve gets angry about that; Drew takes Kate to the planetarium for their first date; At Winfred-Louder’s centennial, Drew selects Arthur Crawford to deliver a speech; Realizing Drew’s heavy workload, Mr. Soulard allows him to hire an assistant, Kate; Steve and Mimi plan a trip to Dollywood; Drew receives a call from Wendy, his recently divorced college girlfriend, which Kate is not happy with; Winfred-Louder needs a regional store manager so Mr. Soulard and the board asks Drew to help them to find the one; Mr. Soulard offers to buy BuzzBeer for $ 40,000; Kate gets a job at a catering company. Season 5 comes to an end on May 17, 2000 and season’s finale was entitled ‘A very Special Drew’.

Season’s Top Ranked Episode ‘The Gang Stops Drinking’

Kate has to appear for an interview at a catering company and she wears an ear piece so that Drew can talk with her through the interview. She gets the job but her first day doesn’t go well. The gang has to stop drinking when Mimi slips them a drug that makes them allergic to alcohol. It’s hard for Drew and Kate to spend their time together because of their busy schedules.
