Author: adminThe season one premiered on September 13, 1995. In the pilot episode, the characters are introduced in very interesting manner. Kate, Drew’s friend, breaks up with his live-in boyfriend and loses job at his body shop. Now she tries to persuade Drew to hire her in Winfred- Louder. Although, Drew is reluctant but his boss, Mr. Bell is impressed by Kate and orders Drew to hire her. Now, Mimi comes to Drew to seek a job, and despite Drew’s being polite, when she realizes that Drew won’t hire her, she accuses him of discriminating on the basis of looks in front Bill. After this, Drew develops a crush on an employee Lisa which creates fuss among rest of the staff.
Kate suffers from inferiority complex because most of women of her fellow women are married. To cheer her up, the staff arranges a fake wedding of her. Drew fires Suzie, who’s involved with Bill. Now Bill pleads Drew to arrange his date with Kate, now trapped Drew rehires Suzie, so that Bill would leave Kate alone. Oswald starts liking Drew’s lecherous neighbor, but she doesn’t see long term relationship with him and drops a note regarding that in Drew’s house. Oswald thinks Drew is jealous of their relationship. Lewis’s sister Janet moves back to Cleveland, who Drew once had a crush on. Drew gets a new job offered by the Store’s founder’s widow, but is demoted to his old job, after he’s caught in act with Lisa. Bill offers Drew promotion in return of training his Nephew Blain, who’s just uninterested in doing any work. Bill tells Drew to have Mimi as his personal secretary and fires both until they get their act together, so that Bill could have Suzie as his personal assistant. Kate and Mimi are in race of becoming Head personal shopper, for which they have to deal with three most difficult to please customers of the store. The season ends with episode “Buzz Beer” on May 8, 1996. Here, Bill throws some papers on Mimi and Drew in wrath. They find a memo in those papers saying that a Dutch company is buying the store. They think that the company will close down the store and will build something else in place. But when a representative visits, it’s only Mr. Bell who gets fired.
The Best Episode: Pilot Episode
Though, throughout the season you just can’t resist laughing, but this most awaited Series’ pilot episode bagged the highest ratings. This is an introductory episode. The episode begins with Kate’s break up with her live-in boyfriend, in whose body shop she’s working as a receptionist. Eventually, he kicks her out of that job and she pleads with Drew to get her a job in Winfred-Louder. Bill is so impressed of Kate that he compels Drew to appoint her. Later make-up coated Mimi comes and when Drew doesn’t appoint her she creates ado over his being discriminatory. In the evening Drew again runs into Mimi at a club and suggests her that she should try some job where looks least matter, making Mimi determined to make Drew’s life a living hell.
